Hot in Cleveland: Season One (2010)
Hot in Cleveland: Season One (2010) Price:$17.99 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25. Shop aStore Amazon Details. If you weren't able to watch Hot in Cleveland while it was on TVLand, then definitely don't pass up getting this dvd. It is supposed to have bloopers too and sometimes those ended up being even more funny than the show. I rarely watch the dribble on tv these days but I was glued every nite this show was on during season 1. It is fresh, funny and just so entertaining. All the cast members fit together like a glove. The show brought in special guests all season including Carl Reiner, Tim Conway and John Schnieder just to name a few. They don't really need special guest stars since the cast is funny without them but they sure do make sure you are laughing each episode due to it. When Betty enters, you know that you won't be able to keep a straight face. When the girls find out that she is going to funeral to check out men, it is mentioned that she has a boyfriend already. Her response? "Just because I'm chained to the fence, doesn't mean I can't bark at the cars".
I can't wait for this dvd to be released and by that time season 2 will be on the way too. January should be a good month!

Takers DVD movie $15.99 Free Standard Shipping
Takers DVD movie Price: $15.99 Free Standard Shipping (3-5 days) Shop aStore Amazon Details. Takers looked like a pretty cliche thriller just from its movie posters and trailers. Hip hop artists T.I. and Chris Brown have supporting roles in the film while African American actors Idris Elba (The Losers, RocknRolla) and Michael Ealy (Seven Pounds, 2 Fast 2 Furious) are featured, as well. These four actors are the ones you see the most of in the film and if you haven't really followed their acting career or listen to hip hop at all, then you probably won't have much interest. Paul Walker, Hayden Christensen, Matt Dillon, and Jay Hernandez round out the rest of the main cast. There was a rather large clamoring amongst fans and moviegoers of the horrid acting of Hayden Christensen while the Star Wars prequels were in theaters. If you haven't seen him in anything since then, then just know he hasn't gotten much better. While Paul Walker has certainly had his moments (mainly Pleasantville and Joy Ride), he doesn't really have much room to talk either.
The biggest struggle Takers faces is that it feels like a movie you've already seen. Remember all those films revolving around bank heists? Dog Day Afternoon, Heat, Point Break, The Dark Knight, The Italian Job, the list goes on and on. Every one of those films managed to bring something different to the table or at least featured something somewhat different or appealing to make it identifiable when presented in a line up of bank heist films. Takers is so similar to last year's Armored that it feels almost pointless to have taken place in the first place. Both films contain a heist involving armored cars, a mostly African-American cast, and even though Matt Dillon seems to have switched roles in comparison to the two films, it doesn't help that he's featured in both. That along with Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana being in the film almost seemed like Takers was actually a cheap combination of The Losers and Armored, which is probably a pretty decent way to describe the film. Do moviegoers like seeing the same movie over and over again because it sure seems that way.
The camera work felt incredibly sloppy, as well. In the first 20 or so minutes of the film, I felt more nauseous than I did at any point of Cloverfield. The way the camera spun around so quickly and so often combined with the way shots kept zooming in and out just didn't make the film feel like it was professionally shot. Certain scenes in the film seemed like they were too close while at other times the camera would zoom out slightly that came off like an error of judgement while the cameras just continued to roll. All in all, the camera work just felt very erratic and unfocused.
This is usually the part in my review where I try to say something positive or make a compliment sandwich kind of deal, but there really isn't much to work with. Hayden Christensen's fight scene, the chase involving Chris Brown, and the gun fight with the Russians are probably the highlights. The writing wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been either although it probably helps that there were four different writers credited on the film.
Takers is a stale crime thriller that consists of both an A.D.D. style of film choreography and a cast aimed at a specific demographic that will likely hurt the film more than benefit it. The obvious little twist the film throws at you sticks out like a sore thumb and the way the film ends will probably leave a lot to be desired. Whether you look at Takers as an action packed crime thriller or an entertaining experience, Takers comes up short and takes last place. If you would like to buy this item.new and used. You can be purchased from the Shop aStore Amazon.

I thought it was certainly one of the better movies I've seen this year. Everyone and everything in that movie shone. It started out with a 5-10 minute scene (I was too busy trying to keep up to really pay attention) between Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg and his then girlfriend Erica that caught my attention mainly by how focused (or in certain ways unfocused) it was and the lightning speed at which the two speak.
From there the movie went everywhere and it is more dizzying than Inception was earlier this year. But that just makes it a better film, really. It's not that it takes from Inception, but rather, indeed, as many reviewers of the film have said, it plays awfully similar to Citizen Kane in terms of themes and story progression, among other things. While the movie may be set in its generation (already the film's closing line that Zuckerberg is currently the world's youngest billionaire is outdated; just a week or so ago he was said to be the second youngest via the Forbes 400) the story itself isn't. If you have seen Kane, you'll know the film is about a man involved in the newspaper industry and makes his living creating a media empire. Barely anyone in this generation reads the newspaper anymore but we know what it is still and thus the story still remains relevant. For more Kane similarities, consider that the film actually takes place after Kane has already died, the rest of the film taking place in flashbacks throughout his life. In very similar fashion, The Social Network depicts things as they happened in flashbacks told through the legal proceedings of the two ongoing lawsuits against Zuckerberg, after he has already alienated all of his closest friends.
This is not a happy movie, though it is a detached one. Even if he is the central focus of the story, it never seems focused directly on Zuckerberg himself. When someone else is on the screen, your attention is drawn away from him and you focus on them instead. Such is the brilliance of film, though, and it is the very thing that pulls you into the movie. Zuckerberg is portrayed as an --- (I'll give you a hint here: it starts with an A and ends with a HOLE), as he is called in the film, and certainly you are intended to like him less and less. But he makes the stupid mistakes that anyone might make. You trust someone with something because you know them and what they're able to do for you (in the case of Sean Parker, played surprisingly well, might I add, by Justin Timberlake) and everything turns out going completely wrong.
Whether or not there's exactly a single fact to be found in this film or not, it remains that this movie is a goldmine for those looking to get into business. The things it can teach you from showing someone else's experiences, true or false, at the same level of importance that the Godfather has a vast wealth of wisdom in it that many take to heart, despite being about organized groups engaging in criminal activity, ranging from simple fraud all the way up to murder.
Agree with me or not, The Social Network is not only a movie for the time, but it is one of the best to come out since The Dark Knight wowed everyone just over two years ago and, as with myself, anyone who I've spoken with that has seen the movie has found themselves motivated to just do SOMETHING after seeing it.
